Paul Wall has teamed up with Jump Shot Media to launch a new hip hop oriented mobile game called ‘Battle Rap Stars’ which is available on iPhone. The game uses a patent-pending voice analysis system to score and evaluate the rap performances of would-be hip hop artists.
“I am incredibly excited to be part of this game. The technology is amazing and the game is just plain fun. Whether you are trying to perfect your skills on the mic or just want to have fun, this game really delivers,” Paul Wall told the Sacramento Bee.
The game pits players against real hip hop artists including Mistah Fab, Hopsin, J Peezy and Fresh Caesar in a head-to-head to match that requires the gamer to beat the pros pre-established scores before they can move on. After overcoming the initial four competitors the gamer must face Paul Wall in the final round to beat the game. The game assigns a score based on the players rhythm, rhyme, and vocal presence. Keith Andrews, co-founder and CEO of Jump Shot Media, indicated that the app wasn’t just for rappers and so in addition to the level oriented structure of the game, the app also has a karaoke mode in order to accommodate non-rappers that will allow iPhone users to build up their skills and practice their rhythm.
Even expert rappers might find themselves tuning their skills using the game’s karaoke function according to Paul Wall who said that “getting past these other rappers is even hard for me, so you have to seriously bring it in order to make it to the final round.”
The game is currently available through iTunes for $0.99 as part of a limited time 50% off promotion. Check out the Battle Rap Stars screenshot after the jump.
