New Video: Worlds Trippin' by Y Not Flow
Directed by Chaz Smedley, "Y Not!?"..this seems to be the phrase that got the pen movin' for this young group of city kids. Unlike Beyonce, these guys are not exactly in love with their radio and have sought musical pleasure elsewhere. From freestylin' over a beatbox to recording songs in a closet. Almost every member of the group met each other in High School and started their rapping careers soon after graduation. YNF is growing (and will NEVER stop growing!) into one of the most diverse hip-hop groups yet. A lot of their influences come from the 90s which is a style they tend to emulate on songs such as "Worlds Trippin'". They continually strive to make inspirational/ creative music and choose from an array of diverse beats from all over the web to constantly produce a new sound for themselves. They don't just plan on inspiring through music but also in the lifestyle they lead. Most of the members annually participate in San Francisco's AIDs Life Cycle where they ride from San Francisco to L.A. in just a few days to support the research in fighting AIDS. A couple members are also Vegan. They usually perform for free but ask for donations to raise money to continue participating in events like the AIDS life cycle.
With that, it's easy to see that YNF is one of the most humanistic and eclectic groups in today's industry of rap and they pride themselves of this fact. Each artist brings something different to the table and can carry themselves as solo artists but have formulated a strong bond with each other to where the group has become more important than the one. This is why you rarely see the names of the artists but simply YNF on every cover.
